In terment In Jacksonville cemetery PHOENIX POOL HALL BURNS 5000 L OS The pool hall at Phoenix, owned by Lyle Walters, was, totally destroyed by fire early this morning, entailing a loss of about $5,000. Tbe, origin of tho blaze is unknown, but It Is supposed to have, started from a stovo In the back room. The entire coun tryside turned out . to fight the flames, and saved tbe Phoenix Mer cantile company stock and building after a hard struggle. The fire burned down a high pow er line of tho California Oregon Pow er company, and shut off tbe clec trie heat in the Incubators of tbe Whlto Wing Poultry farm. Linemen wero pbond for, and connected up the current before the incubators be came chilled,- saving hundreds of young chickens-to-be. Tbe burning of the high tension wire also shut off all lights in Med ford and vicinity for about a half hour. While tho fire was at Its height the Modford tire department was phoned to for help at 1:10 a. m., and Chief Lawton and one fireman with the extra book and ladder and hose truck responded, but arrived too late to be of any assistance. This act of cour tesy on the part of the local fire de partment made a hit with the people of Phoenix.
