Tho object of the conference is to discuss every phase of the enforce ment of prohibition, both federal and state laws. The conference will also take up the enforcement of liquor laws in this county. W. J. Hcrwifr of Portland, superintendent of the Anti Saloon League, issued the following statement: "The Anti-Saloon League of Oregon is proposing to conduct a very exten sive Law Knforcement campaign throughout the state. It is our pur pose to hold a law enforcement con ference In every county sent town, the conference to be held at 3:00 o'clock in the nfternoon. Tn this conference we Shall invite nil the county offic ials and all friends who are interest ed in tho enforcement of prohibition. The purpose of the conference is to arouse public sentiment and pet the peoplo and county officials together; instruct tho people as to thoir duties; show them how they can co-operate .with officers nijrt tq organize . the forces, if possible, for future action. "Similar campaigns are being con ducted in every state in the union. If prohibition is to bo made permanent nnd a success, the same must be prop erly enforced nnd we are confident that this campaign will be the means of arousing a stronger public senti ment for law enforcement.
