E. -Millard, scoutmaster, in charge, leave at G a. m. tomorrow morning for their first annual camp at Ciiion creek, on tile large tract that has been set aside by the Crater National Forest officials as a camping ground for the Boy Scouts of Southern Oregon. JONES. 2 AGED CITIZENS STAGEBOUT OVER com land John Antle, age 7G, and James Bowl ing, age 72, both hale and hearty, indulged in a fistic encounter Sunday, over tho ownership of a lot on West Main street.' - The gray-haired battlers were arrested by Chief of Police Tim othy under the city ordinai-co "to pun ish and prevent riots, and disorderly conduct," and are specifically charged with "conducting themselves in a vio lent and disorderly manner, contrary to the peace and dignity of the county of Jackson, and the state of Oregon." Bowling appeared before Justice Glenn O. Taylor this morning, pleaded guilty, and was fined $10 and costs. Antle reserved his plea until 2 o'clock this afternoon.. He is defended by Attorney Gus Newbury. The youthrul pair aro neighbors, and Antlo was cutting grass on the disputed land with a scythe, when liowllng appeared, and, according to tho story ordered him oTf, and, it is alleged ho was armed with a club. i!Kin Antic's refusal to depart. Bowl ing declared, "I'll put you ofr.'4 Antle dropped his scythe and prepared lo defend his territorial Integrity. Then the fracas started. A vigorous encounter ensued, in which Howling was pasted on the nose with a snappy right, and Antle receiv ed a clout across the .wrist with a fir stick with knots on it. Mrs. Bowling is said to have rushed to the assis tance of her mate. Other neighbors rushed to the scene and separated the combatants. The damage was trivial. During tile rumpus Homebody tele phoned Antic's boy Dick, who wont out and informed his pa that "only cats and dogs fight," and "littlo boys must bd kind to each oilier." Harmony was restored without trouble, and the riot stilled faster than it. started. Antlo holds a deed to tho disputed property and Ills plea in court will be that he acted In self defense In de fending his property. Vt., June 13.--Henry C. ide, formerly governor gan eial of the Philippines and later mla ister to Spain under the Taft adminis tration died at Mb home here today. He recently had retumod from Cal ifornia, where he spent the winter. Mr. Ide, who was 70 years of age. was a native or Barnet, Va and first entered diplomatic service as United States commissioner to Samoa in 1S91. Later lie became chief . jus tice of Samoa, under a joint appoint ment of tho United States, Great Brit ain and Germany, serving until 1S97. In 1901 he went to the Philippines as a member of the Taft commission to .establish a civil government and be came secretary of finance and justice. Vice governor, acting governor and governor general. He was sent to Spain as minister in 1909 and re mained until August, 19913. Two daughters, Mrs. W. , Boui-ke Cockran of Washington, and Mrs. Shano Les lie or London, survive.
