Stevens passed away suddenly at his home, 513 North Grape street, Wednesday evening nt the age of 71 years. Mr. Stevens was a pioneer of .Rogue River valley. Horn in Iowa, he crossed the plains in the yea,r 1853, settled ill Jackson county later with his parents he moved to Douglas county where they resided a short time returning to Jackson coun ty where he has since resided. He leaves besides hisv wife two chil dren, Wm. L. of California, Mrs. Ella Abbott of Talent, and two stepchildren Mrs. Clair Higgins and Joseph W. Wil liams of Jackson county.
