Aleyer, charged wltb the murder of her
fourth husband, Edward F. Jleyei at
Twin Falls, Idaho, September .7. 1920,
viaa arrested at Honolulu toiias' ac
cording to a dispatch received by the
Salt Lake Telegram. V. H. Ormsby,
deputy1 sheriff at Twin Falls, at pres
ent in Los Angeles, said that he was
awaiting extradition papers being pre
pared at Twin Falls to bring her back
to Idaho for trial. The deputy sheriff
also informed the paper that Jlrs.
Meyer married Vincent Southard of
the V. S. S. Chicago November 20 last.
Prosecuting Attorney Frank L. Ste
phen of Twin Falls county, Idaho, said
Mrs. Southard's matrimonial record
was being investigated for the purpose
of determining the causes and fixing
the responsibility for the deaths of
three other former husbands, an infant
child by Robert Dooley, her first hus
band, and Dooley's b.-other, Edward. !
Insurance in which Mrs. Southard!
was the beneficiary, was carried on
the lives of all five men, Stephan said,
and of which she is said to have col
lected at least $9,500.
. Mrs. Southward, who is 28 years
old, worked for a time as a waitress
at Twin Falls after Meyer's death. She
departed for California last winter. ;
Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
Traobiood, who live on a farm at Kim
becl.v, Twin Falls county; - i
Prosecutor Stephan said he had In!
his possession evidence which would j
establish that - poison caused the
deaths of Robert C. Dooley, William G.j
McHafrie, Harlan C. Lewis and Ed-;
ward t". Meyer, respectively her first,;
second, third and fourth husbands, and
Edward Dooley, brother of her first
husband. Stephan said the bodies otj
these men had been exhumed and the!
contents ot their stomachs analyzed
by Herman Harms and Edwin Roden-
baugh, state chemists respectively of!
Idaho and Utah, and that a deadly poi-j
son had been found. The poison in!
each case was said to have been the
same.
The woman's arrest on a charge of
murdering Meyer was made as a re
sult of the chemists' report, Stephan
faid.
Mrs. Southard's matrimonial history
and the dates of her husbands' deaths
as given out by the authorities follow:
. Married Robert C. Dooley, an Idaho
farmer, at Twin Falls, March 17, 1912;
died In Twin Falls hospital,' October
i Si' 1915, typhoid being assigned as the
cause. '' -
' Married Williaiii 3. McHaffie, Twin
FallB waiter, at Twin Falls, in June
3B17; died at Hardin, Mont., October
22, 1918; death reported to have been
from influenza and diphtheria. - ,
Married Harlan- C. Lewis, automo
bile mechanic of Billings, Mont., at
Deliver, Colo., March 10, 1919; died at
Hillings July 6, 1919; cause of death
reported as flastro enteritis,
' Married Edward F. Meyer, foreman
lilue Lakes ranch, Twin Falls county,
Idaho, at Pocatella, Idaho, August 10,
1920; died at Twin Falls hospital Sep
tember 7, 1920. Autopsy revealed
traces of poison.
. In two cases the prosecuting attor
ney said Mrs Southard failed to col
lect insurance on her hushands lives.
The policy on McHaffie's life, he said,
was allowed to lapse through non
payment of a premium. Meyer, the
fourth husband carried $10,000 of in
surance, which was Increased from
J2000 shortly before his death, hut no
attempt was made by his wife to col
lect It.

Prosecuting Attorney Stephan said
that the Dooley brothers jointly as
sumed an insurance policy on their
lives for $2000, naming Mrs. Dooley as
the beneficiary. This was in addition
to the $2500 policy carried b'y the hus
band, Robert C. Dooley, in favor of his
wife.
Edward Dooley died August 9,
3915, after an illness of ten days and
the Insurance wag paid to the surviv
ing Dooley and his wife. On October
3, 1915 Robert C. Dooley died and in
surance on his life was collected by
Mrs. Dooley.
The Dooley baby lived to be three or
four years old and Its death was re
ported to have resulted from typhoid
fever.

she was recently acquitted by an
Oklahoma Jury, was in process of
sett!ement today, it was stated
by J. B. Champion, attorney for
the claimant.
The negotiations, he said, had
proceeded on the basis ot pay-
nent of $10,000 in cash and rec-
assignments and contracts by
which Hamon was declared to
have made over oil rights to
Clara Smith Hamon during his
lite. ,
Judge C. R. Ellis, of Santa Ana,
Cal., conducted the negotiations
with Mr. Champion as the repre-
sentative of his son, Fred Ellis of
Ardniore, Okla., attorney, for airs.
