Mansfield of Medford, president of the state farm bureau fed eration, jumped into the fight against tho raising of telephone rates by the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph com pany at tho protest meeting held at Portland yesterday. The Portland Journal In Its account or the meeting says in part: "George Mansfield of the Oregon farm bureau branded this as a policy of the 'public lie dnmend' var iety and stated that he as president of the bureau would cooperate in any way with the liotelnien to force tho re duction of rates.
