mittee of Aho Greater Hertford club
at their regular monthly meeting Mon
day voted to recomnrend to the city
council the Immediate purchasing of
the Pacific & Eastern terminal tract
for city park purposes. The sense or
the meeting was that one of the great
est assets a city can have is a well
located auto park, such as can In-
made by tho purchase of this well lo

Pacific Telephone and Telegraph com
pany at tho protest meeting held at
Portland yesterday. The Portland
Journal In Its account or the meeting
says in part: "George Mansfield of the
Oregon farm bureau branded this as a
policy of the 'public lie dnmend' var
iety and stated that he as president
of the bureau would cooperate in any
way with the liotelnien to force tho re

for the use of rural telephones at the
new rate."
