Sargent of Jacksonville with the introduction stating that "he is not only a distinguished soldier and author, but he also Is a lover of trees." The colonel closes the interview with the following: "But let us como nearer home. When'Emil Britt, the present mayor of Jacksonville, was born, his father, who was a lover of all kinds of trees, celebrated the event by plant ing a sequoia tree. It has grown into a splendid specimen. It is now, at the age of 58 years, nearly 100 feet high and about 16 feet in circumference at its base."
