Three bills, providing for tho creation of separate fish and game commissions and estab lishing regulations for the taking of fiBh from the Rogue river, have been formally approved by the fish anil (tame commission and will go before the members of the state legislature with tho unanimous endorsement of the commission. A final meeting of the commission and the fish and game committees of the house will he held this afternoon to decide upon provisions of the code which will safeguard the Interests of ljoth commissions and in the worlds of one member of the commission, "settle for ull time this question so that It will never be raised again, If that is possi ble." The bills, as approved, are substan tially the measure indorsed at a joint meeting held in Portland in November attended by representatives of the fed eral government, the commercial fish ing Interests and the sporting inter ests. The bills, as approved, provide for the creation of a fish commission of three members and a game commis sion of five members, each appointed and removed by the governor. The only change in the Rogue river bill was that regulating the dato of opening tho season nt Grants PasB. The opening date at thiB point is to be May 25 instead of June 1, and tho clos ing dato October 1 instead of October 31. . The Beason nt the mouth of the Roguo river will extend from May 15 to October 1. An amendment will be added to each bill in the committee providing that the attorney general will act as arbi trator In all controversies or differ ences that may arise between the new fish and game commissions and the bid 'commission.- The bills, reported Lilt as committee measure will prob ably bejiassed tomorrow. ! KILLED IN CALIFORNIA i -i PORTLAND, Jan. 18. Efforts here to establish the identity of the man found dead yesterday on tho tracks of tho Southern Pacific at Stockton, Cal.j resulted in revealing that tho Oregon anglers license No. 120S9 found on tho body had been issued to L. Arthur McGee, a deckhand on the river steamer Beaver. Officers of tho Beaver said McGee worked on the boat eight days last August and five days in September. They had no recollec tion of him and hud no information as to where he came from or where he went to. A small check to his credit for time served is still being held by tho purser. He had. signed the name of L. Arthur McGee for such checks as he had received. It's Good for Children - Mrs. C. E. Schwab, 1007 11th St., Canton, Ohio, writes: "We use Fo ley's Honey pnd Tar for coughs and find it one of the best remedies on tho market, especially good for chil dren's coughs, as it does not contain any drug that is 'harmful." Serious sickness often follows lingering colds. Hard coughing racks a child's body and disturbs strength-giving sleep, and tho poisons weaken the system so that disease cannot be warded off. IS Wheat under went a sag In price today owing to re ports that Italy had cancelled some of her purchases. Besides, domestic de mand appeared to lack volume. Sell ing pressure, however, was only of a scattered sort. Opening quotations, which ranged from unchanged figures to V2 cents lower, with .March $1.75', 4 to $1.70 and May $1.68 to $1.69 were followed by a little rally and then by moderate declines all around. Continued liberal receipts had a depressing influence on corn. After opening to cents lower, includ ing May at 70 to 71 "4 c tho market weakened still further. Outs were relatively steady hut dull, starting 14 to 14 lower. May 40 1-8 to 46 Vi and then becoming somewhat easier. Provisions tended downward in the absence of any aggressive support. N. Y. Stocks NEW YORK, Jan. IS. The stock market drifted aimlessly at the dull opening of today's session, although losses exceeded gains. In no impor tant instance, however, were changes more than fractional. Reading, selling ex-dividend, recovered part of yester day's reaction and the trend of other rails was moderately upward. Steels, equipments, coppers and oils were slightly over or under yesterday's final prices and specialties manifested the same uncertain tone. Early quotations for foreign exchange pointed to a con tinuance of yesterday's advance, de mand sterling amounting to 30 7-S, a new high record for the year. Absence of more than casual support enabled the shorts fb effect further de preciation of prices during the listless forenoon. Oils, shippings, steels and equipments were their especial objec tives. The one conspicuous exception was California Petroleum which rose over two points on steady, moderate buying. Rails failed to hold and losses among miscellaneous shares were ir regularly Increased. Call money op ened unchanged at six per cent but ex change on London reacted almost two cents from the early high rate. NEW YORK, Jan. 18. Food and leather Issues strengthened in the fi nal hour, but oils and allied shares wero under further pressure. The closing was irregular. Interest in the stock market today was limited to the professional ele ment. Representative issues recorded only trivial changes and specialties moved within unusually narrow boun daries. Sales approximated 450,000 shares. Allls Chalmers , 30.5 American Beet Sugar 40.5 American Can 27.5 American Car & Foundry . . 12 1. American Hide & Leather pfd. 47."
