Tho res ervation declining to bear league ox peases except on action of congress was re-adopted late KAlay by a vote of 4 0 to 2 5 with eight democrats supporting it. WASHINGTON. Mar. 0. White House officials in discussing today tho movo of administration senators to arrange a conference with I'resi- dent Wilson to discuss tho peace treaty situation, said tho president had told Senator Class, of Virginia, two1 weeks ago, what his attitudo was toward a eompromiso on tho article ten reservation. It was said that there had been no docision as to whether the president would seo tlio senators In response to the request of Senator llltchcotek. Thoso closo to tlio president, how ever, pointed out that Senator Glass must have informed his colleagues as to Mr. Wilson's position. The president's attitude toward further conferences with democratic senatoi-H as reflected at the White House was learned with manifest dis appointment by democratic and re publican senators who liavo been working for a compromise. It was said tho negotiations would continue tint senators predicted that if Mr Wilson declined to consider further compromise proposals the hope of ratification would bo greatly dimin ished. Among soino of tho republicans, however. It was predicted that a re fusal to seo Senator Simmons would result in further defections from the administration ranks and might lead to a breuk sufficient to secure ac ceptance of tho republican reserva tions. Tho compromise proposals Senator Simmons had planned to present to tho president wcro worked out In ne gotiations between substantial groups of tlio 1wo parties with Senator Sim mons acting for the democrats and Senator WalsOn of Indiana for the republicans. -' ii n 0".i "l'"T SPENT BILLION ON MOTOR.
