19-20 patitc wm EAGLE POINT EAGLETS ; , , . Bv A. C Hewlett, li. J. Stelner and 1V. Smith who; aro living on the Medford-Cential Point roud and K. J. Steikel of Port-'i land, were here for late dinner Wet!-' nesday afterncon. Mr. Steihl was on his way up on the headwaters of Reese creek to look at a plate that is for sale. John Seiler, formerly of Butte Falls but now of .Medford, and Thomas F. Nichols and Ed liensley were also here and took supper and Ed llensley commenced boarding here again. January 1st was en.e of Wrose love-l ly. days aue-h as w.o ofeH hu-v-e -in .sout'lfc'rm 6r.eson, and almost every cne either, wemt to Mcd5ord er stayel at home'nnd enjoyed New Year's din ner at- home altho J. B. Jackson and w.ife and Harry Young and wife came in and took dinner at the Suunyside. Chauncey Florey, our popular county clerk and family and his brother-in-law, 'Mr. Raymond Reter and family came out and took dinner vlth his father, A. J. Florey, Sr. Carl, Chlldreth, a son of Henry Chlldreth of Ashland, Lester Abbott and wife, Mr. Vernon Jones and Miss iBumloe Edmondson of Rutte Falls, came in and spent the night and all went on tu Madford the next morn ing. St. Heekenberg and Charles Chrearj camo out on the Butte Falls stage. Mr. Jleckenberg went out to Hamil ton Wntkins' and Mr. Chreiir went, on up to Trail on the stage. And 'Wm. 'ChambmitP little girl, a little tot, came .out , on the stage ttnd wwnt on up to her home at Butto Falls. Wm. Heckathora slao went up to Truil on the Persist stage. Thoro was a meeting of the direc tors of the First State bank of Kugle Point here on December 31st, when all of the directors of the bank were present except two and held their an nual election, re-electing all of the old officers and elected Miss Hazel Brown as assistant, cashier. MlaB Hazel, has been acting In that capac ity for some time pant, bat only by, appointment, but now is the regular elected assistant. On account of her mother's candi- tion, just recovering from .the effouls of an operation, Miss Hazel is staying at home, caring for her mother at present, and 6. 1). HolmeB is acting as Resistant cashier in her place. All of the directors of the bank, at the annual meeting expressed themselves as in favor at increasing the capital stock on account of the Increase in business and the future prospect. There has been a very ma terial increaso lu the business in the bank as nndor the management of J. V. Mclntyre one person did about all the work, whereas now nndor the management of Mr. 11. J. JJcvaney the present cashier, the business has Increased to such an extent that It requires an assistant cashier. . Miss Elizabeth Devaney, a sister 01 our banker, who is teaching In the high school of Cottage Grove, has been here visiting her brother, H. J. JJOvuuey during the holidays, left on NeV Tear'B flay for Cottage Grove. A, C. Sponce, the efficient road supervisor of the Brownsboro road district, was doing business here Fri day. . (Hamilton Watkins and wife came itt Friday morning. Mrs. Watkins is engaged taking the census in this neighborhood. Itoliert Merritt and tils sister, Miss Maud, were among the business cel Wlre Friday. Mrs. W. E. Hemmel and her sister, Mrs. Bam Courtney called at the Snnnyslde Friday afternoon and took the stage for Medford. .'Mrs. R., Hollo also made a business call Friday, settling up her business preparatory to starting for Idaho to visit her father who said said to be in pool- health. She thinks of re maining there and caring for him for an indefinite length of time. ..James Uiley, formerly of this neighborhood, but moro recently of Talent, was a guest at the Sunnyside Friday night. J. H. Clark of Butte Falls, Walter Bradshaw of Brewster, Wash., one ct the frultman of that section, W. E. Walker of Standard Oil Co., Medford, and Ernest Peachy of Ashiand, one of the timber cruisers, and two stran gers were here for dinner Saturday, and later in the day H. H. Williams of Medford at present but formerly of Idaho, and .Wm, C. Pierce, machin ist for Hubbard Urea., of Medford, called for dinner. Eli Dahack, one of the principal advocates and boostors for the pro ject to bring water from Big Butte into the valley; was in town Satur day. There seejns to toe seme con siderable trouble over the project ns there appears to be considerable misunderstanding as to the question of the elimination of the land unfit for irrigation or inaccessible tc the water, and then there is an element among the farmors who seem to want the water brought in but are fearful of the title to the water right I ' BAD BPJEATft Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets Get at the Cause and Remove It t Dr. Edwards' Oiive Tablets, lf;3 substitute for calomel, act gently on the bowels and positively do the work.
