But for the heroic fight of the mill and tim ber crews, assisted l)y the neighbor ing ranchers, an extensive loss would have occurred. A heavy Wind Was blowing at the time and after burn ing-over quite an area with some Iobb to logs yarded along the railway the flames were extinguished. The warm weather and drought of the past month is becoming a serious menace to crops on unlrrlgated lands and the forests in the Gold Hiil region.
