For tho past month the department has been working overtime nights to keen pace with the applications. Up to last Saturday the department had only registered about 25,000 applications. As -there were registered this year ii,i2a machines it will be seen that less than one-half of tho car owners have compiled with the department's appeal. to send their applications be fore Jan. 1, so that they could be sure of having their license plates by that date or soon afterwards.
