Deputy Game Warden Pat Dailey
announced today that all persons
hunting tomorrow must either have
n 1919 hunting license or a receipt
-for the same upon their, persons.
County Clerk Gardner has the only
licenses in the county, and as he is
closing up his affairs as clerk pre
paring to assume the county Judge's
office Wednesday, Jan. 6th, the var
ious authorized places to sell licenses
thruout the county will have none
until after that date. However, per
sons wanting licenses can apply for
them at these places, pay for the
same and receive receipts.
A Medford man, who has Just re
turned. from Portland states that. the
force of the Grant Smith-Porter Bros,
company shipyards in that city has

brought to the city by T. G. Bradley,
power company official, who arrived
in Medford this forenoon. The read
ing was taken on the government
thermometer at the power house sta
tion. Monday morning the lowest
temperature at Prospect , was 4 de
grees above zero.

During the past week the automo
bile department of tho secretary of
state's offic8 hao been doing a rush
ing Dusincss in the taking care of the
mail applications for registration of
motor vehicles and chauffeurs, which
have heen coming In at the rate of
from 1000 to 1800 a day. For tho
past month the department has been
working overtime nights to keen pace
with the applications. Up to last
Saturday the department had only
registered about 25,000 applications.
As -there were registered this year
ii,i2a machines it will be seen that
less than one-half of tho car owners
have compiled with the department's
appeal. to send their applications be
fore Jan. 1, so that they could be
sure of having their license plates by
that date or soon afterwards.
