Johnson ot Woodburn, died in a hospital in France Oct. 2, of wounds received in action. He Was the son of T, Johnson, Southern Pa cific agent at Woodburn and was a last: year's graduate of the Woodburn high school. Corporal Carl F. Alli man of Woodburn, who went ; to France with company I, and was la ter transferred to company B, First Field battalion,' signal corps, ' has been reported as killed in action in France on Oct. 31st. The Mexicans havo been employed on the S. P. railroad around Grenada but when the epidemic struck the party the cars in which they lived were hauled to Montague where the men could obtain the services of tho rail road physician. Miss Marie Edwards who has been serving as cashier returns to the position of bill clerk, replacing Miss Alone Al len, resigned. D. G.
