There are seven samples ot varying shades from deposits In the Humbug dis trict. The claim is made that these dyes are superior to the ahallne and coal tar dies. Samples have been sent to Washington and to Berkeley for analysis and test. It is quite possible that : these deposits may prove of great value". Boswell, whose death in France from disease in November was announced a few days' ago, left Grants Pass with the June 30 draft men and landed in France August 24. He was born in Malheur county 24 years ago and had been with his father in Jackson and Josephine counties tor the past four years. He is survived by his father and mother, a sister living at LVewbury and a brother at Kalama.
