Samples of what are claimed to be
mineral dies discovered by T. iNaba
tamc, the 'ipnnese mineralogist of
this . place are displayed In the
chamber of commerce. There are
seven samples ot varying shades
from deposits In the Humbug dis
trict. The claim is made that these
dyes are superior to the ahallne and
coal tar dies. Samples have been sent
to Washington and to Berkeley for
analysis and test. It is quite possible
that : these deposits may prove of

men and landed in France August
24. He was born in Malheur county

a sister living at LVewbury and a
