Mrs. Carrie Minkler, of this .city, is the composer of a war song enti tled "The Americans nre Coming," which was sung for the first time at the recent War Savings Stamp rally. Tho meter is akin to that of the "Hnttle Hymn of the Republic," and tho wording is imbued with the patri otic sentiment. This new composition will soon appear in the form of sheet music. Arrangements are being made for the presentation of "The Mikado," in the parks on Friday evening, July 5. Tf weather is inclement, the big Chnu tnuoua aditorium is available. The first casualty to Southern Oregon men reported from the war zone in France is connected with the name of Emery Rnrtlett, of Grants Pass, formerly of Giiimell, Iowa, and well known, to local residents who formerly lived in the Hawkcyo state.
