Kbel and moth er, Mrs. 8lnimoni, and nephew have returned from a three weeks vacation spent In the Prospect forest fire neighborhood. It was a rather stren uous vacation for Mr. and Mrs. Kbel. When the forest fires broke out In tbat region Kbel was requisitioned as a fire fighter by Flro Warden Grieve, lit) was put to work as tlmo-keeper and straw boss. Thus the party was anchored to the fire vicinity, seeing which Mrs. Kbel volunteered her serv ices as cook for the flre-flghters. NEARLY DROWNS Dave Grlflths, a pressman In the employ of the Mall Tribune, had a narrow escape from death by drown ing In .the plunge at the, nntatorluin Sunday afternoon. He was under wa ter three or four minutes and when rescued by Leslie ;Vyatt, the barber. was unconscious, but soon responded to vigorous resuscitation treatment. Griffiths and Wyntt went to the natatorium together, and Wyatt, who is a good swimmer, dived into the pool where the water Is eight feet deep. Griffiths followed him a few seconds later and dived In the same placo, thinking that he waer there was only about three feet deep. He Is a very poor swimmer. When Wyatt came up to the surface he saw Griffiths struggling In the water and Just sinking. Only by the hardest kind of work, during which the drowning man struggled with htm and fought him off. did Wyntt finally succeed In getting Griffiths out of the pool. In fact. It looked several times as tho Griffiths' frantic struggles would sink huth men.
