Point.', ffo less man a dozen dogs nave been put to death .in the cruelestj .. .and. .most ' brutal way possible within the last few days. The cause of this whole sale killing of dogs is. not. known, but it is generally supposed that the self- righeous person or persons who are doing it consider the little dumb ere- ntures nuisances and deem it their duty to rid the community of them. It is not the duty or work" at any privnto citizen to take it upon him , self to kill any living thing, unless they are authorized by tho public of ficials to do so 1 1f dogs become so numerous that they, are obnoxious,' to tho public," it is perfectly right that our city duds should order them put out, of the Tvnjybut no men, who are men enough to be members of a city j.r'onnoil, would order any animal put to death in the shameful way that these dogs have been killed. A slow poison that makes the dog suffer for several days the most intense agony and pain has been tho lot of these faithful creatures. If those people who nro doing this thing had given tho dog something .'Hint" would quick ly put it out of the way,, .their work would- not have bconsd bud, but as it' is, the least than can be said is that his" or their has been li most in human act; . , , ; ; ' Mrs. Frank Weston of Ashland was one of the out-of-town business visitors here this i -week.
