The men involv ed, the government alleges, made a fortune by selling stolen oro to Uni ted Stages mini3 thruout the country. The amount involved is said to have exceeded a million dollars. - The names of thirteen of those in dicted were made public, tho remain ing twenty-two being withheld until arrests are made. Among those in dicted was Ant;iio Cunz, who was ar rested ia San Francisco May 2, last, while negotiating for tho disposal of $15,000 worth of gold to the mint there. The men are charged with conspir acy to defraud the government. MS RESIGNATION LONDON', May 21. A dispatch I Reuters Telegram company from Amsterdam (fives the following semi official statement received from Budapest : "As the emperor did not irivc liis assent to the jrovcrmncnt's 'franchise proposal, fount Tisza, the Hungarian premier, tendered his resignation of the entire cabinet, which the emperor accepted. "The emperor charged Count Tisza with continuing the conduct of cur rent business. No decision has been taken regarding an audience in con ncetion with the forming of a new cabinet." Only two sailing; ships, both under 300 tons were lost during tho same period. TODAY'S MARKETS j R1SH POTATO YiELD WASHINGTON, May 24. A 25 per cent Increase in this year's yield of early Irish potatoes was forecast today by the agricultural department. On the basis of present crop condi tions the department estimates the crop at 33,510,000 bushels against 6,481,700 bushels last year. Virginia, the great early potato producing state, will grow this year about 16,000000 bushels. California with a crop of 2,347,000 bushels, will nearly treble last year's yield. Messrs. Schaumburg and Mrs. An na Englo entertained a dinner party Sunday at tho Schaumburg home, tho occasion being the birthdays of Mr. Schaumburg and Mrs. G. B. Alden. Mrs. Ilittlo entertained the Recrea tion club Thursday and Mrs. Boyd gave a very interesting paper on Jean' Stratton Porter. Strawberries and cream and cake were served. The next meeting will be May 31 at the homo of Mrs. Carle. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wahl were Sun day dinner guests at the John Short home. Mrs. Gay and Miss Harper havo taken threo little boys to educate and care for. The boys have certainly found excellent homes. Mr. and Mrs. R. Wl Engle and Mrs. G. B. Alden attended graduating ex ercises at Rogue River Wednesday evening. Miss Anna Carle Is one of tho members of the class. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Jones attended the funeral 6f Mrs. Henry White of Ashland, which was held at Grants Pass Wednesday. W. W. Hlttlo is at Eugene till week attending the grand lodge of I. O. O. F. Ho is delegate from the local lodge at Gold Hill. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Wolverton at tended tho graduating1 exercises of their daughter. Miss Bertha, at Phoe nix Wednesday evening. Other at tending from hero are Mrs. Jacobs. .Miss hoss and G. II. Alden. Mrs. Drogenmuellor and son re turned to Medfqrd Thursday after a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Wahl. Mr. Earhart and his force of men have finished work on the road on Riverside and are now on Foots Creek. The road was put up to grade and is in ideal condition, and the peo pie who trael it most greatly appre ciate the improyed condition. Miss Gladys Swackor Is visiting at the home of her uncle, Richard Swacker. The I. H. Porter family aro rejoic ing in tho arrival of a piano from Mndford a few days ago, which Mr. Porter purchased while there. Mrs. Bertha McKinney closed a suc cessful term of school on Foots Creek Friday with a picnic. About 50 came with well filled baskets and a big kettle of coffoo was presided over by I the famous chef. Grant Mathews. Af ter tho dinner the school children gave a very enjoyable program of songs, recitations and dialogues. Then all repaired to the play ground where a gamo of baseball, the women play ing against tho men, was participated In. Dad Wahl acting is umpire. Need less to say the women won. John Doncgan, who has been work ing on the Slead ranch, waa taken to tho Gold Hill hospital Monday, threat ened with pneumonia.
