Tele grams received here from Parana eon- firm reports that the Germans in southern Brazilian states are con jCentrating in the state of Santa Cath jarina. The reception proper wilt begin nt 8 o'clock, and will be held ut the Xata torium in the large hull upstairs. The entire public of Medford and vicinity are urgently invited to attend the re-1 eeption at 8 o'clock and be a part of i the sincere expression of the deep appreciation felt for the members of the Seventh company. The evening promises to be most ! enjoyable. A splendid musical pro gram has been prepared, which will be enhanced by appropriate costum ing of some of the participants. Dancing will follow this program. While the affair of Friday night is in the nature of a farewell reception, no orders nor intimation has as yet been received as to jut when the Seventh company ill depart from iredford. Thoe in charge of the reception, however, deemed it wise !to hold the reception soon, for fear the company might be ordered away any moment and the opportunity would be lost of paying the organiza tion a formal tribute. The discovery Monday morning of the charred remains of a Bmall wood fire 'beneath tho covered material shed of the Medford Sanli and Door company, and alinoHt against a wall of the main factory Mnicluro, has every appearance of an attempt to set fire to the plant. Manager Paul Hansen and the em ployes of the company are consider ably nuzzled over the matter. The fire may have burned either Satur. day or Sunday night. On neither night was there a watchman on duty. Adding further mystery to the fire is the fact that whoever started it left behind his hat, a hat of felt ma terial, without a hand, and 6 3-4 size. It Is thought that the sup posed incendiary may have been frightened away and in his excite ment forgot the hat. Whatever the origin and purpose of the fire, the plant had a close call. The fire, after it was started and had burned for some time, apparent ly burned itself out before it could reach and Ignite the wall.
