Neil of Ashland being somewhat smashed up but not disabled, It np- An Easter picnic was held Satur day at the hpme of Mrs. Wm. Carle. The picnic was for the Sunday school children and their mothers. The weather was bad but almost the en tire Bchool turned out and enjdyed a fine picnic. The young folks played many rousing games, which nearly succeeded In bringing down the roof with merriment. Mr. Short was guest of honor. At noon a dinner was served which reflected much credit to the cooks. The piano and a swing were much enjoyed. The Sunday school held an Easter service In the school house which was fine. A strik ing feature In the decorations was a cross made of dafodlls. J. 'B. Hair was a caller In Grants Pass Monday. John Short took a fine bull to the Pass Monday for beef. A company ot home guards has been organized In Rogue River. The members number 25. Dltsworth and son Gus and James Peyton returned from the val ley Wednesday, the former went back with loads of potatoes Thursday. Gus hns about ten loads yet to haul.
