Trusty, or Trail, who f had been out to Central Point to j visit relatives, camo iu on the motor and took passage on the stage, with her son, Henry, for her homo on Elk Creek.. Speaking about the stage from hero to Persist, Mr. Trusty tells me that, on his round trip from here to Persist and back, he does not re turn all the way on the same route, but crosses the Rogue River going by way of the Dodgo-French bridge, and returning by the Free-Ferry road, and on the entire route has to de liver 85 Individual sacks of mail, lie has been running im auto stnge up to today, Saturday, but finds that the roads are so bad that he has to put on liis team agaiu. Although Have Pence, tho road supervisor, of the Trail district, has made wonderful improvements In the road on that side of the river, Btill there are so miny bad mud holes on the entire route that it is not considered pru dent, to say the least, to trp to keep running the auto. C. A. Colby of Lake Creek started with his family for San Dlogo, Cal., Thursday. lie has rontcd his farm in the Lake Creek section, but I did not learn the name of the 'renter. His moving out has reduced the mem bership of the school, as it was not very large at best, but the loss of that school will, perhaps, be a help to some other school, ' I noticed when I was at the depot Thursday that Mr. Amos Ayres had six crates of chickens to ship out to Modford. The poultry and dairy busi ness is getting to be a big business In the Butte Creek country, and if the farmers succeed, as they expect to, in procuring money at a low rate of interest, and ipvent it properly, this part of tho country will bo one of the most prosperous sections in the county, for we have the soil,' the water and the climate and all that we need is the means to Improve and de velop the farms. In spite of tho mud, snow and rain, 1 see that the farmers are still coming Into town and taking lumber out to their honjes and. .the fallroad agent, who has charge of tho lum ber yard, Is kept busy looking after the various interests. He has decided to re main with him for a week or so. " H. J. Stewart, who owns a part of thn old C. C. licekman place north east of here, passed through town on his way to Central Point Thursday. W. II. McLoed of McCloud, and if. C. Mills of Butte Falls, were on the P. & E. Thursday on their way home. Misses Nell Peachcy and Deilie Grigsby were in town Saturday shop ping. -' Kd Watson of Butte Falls was on the P. & E. on his way to Jackson ville, where he has obtained a busi ness position, and Scott Claspel was on his way to Medford to take chnrge of an engine in a manufacturing es tablishment. -.
