OF REAL BOT TO ALL Why not attend Farmers' Week. O. A. C.I Several fanners and fruitgrowers have already decided to attend the Farmer's and Home-Maker's week at Corvallis, January '2-0, and arrange ments are being made to accommo date thoso who attend from this county by securing a special tourist car containing 31 beds for .:j0 per day, including pnrkage and porter. Arrangements have lieen made lor eats at the Waldo Hall for those who take advantage of (he special car for 85 cents per day; breakfast 2,")c; lunch 2m; dinner 3.1c. This makes a lodging and board rale of $1.8,1 per day providing we can get 31 people to make up the special car. There will be no entrance fee at the college, llailrond fare will be one and a third on the certificate plan. The round trip would cost from Hogue liiver, !).,15: (iold Hill, .!).S0; Cent nil Point, $10.3.1; Medl'ord, $10.50; Ashland. $10,115. By going in a body we can thus get cheaper rates and have the pleas ure ot staying with our own crowd in our own private car, and perhaps get the advantage of side excursions to such places as the I'liion Stock yards at Portland. Prominent limn ers and fruitgrowers from all over the state will be ill attendance and will discuss questions pertaining to the growing and murketing of fruit, live stock, grains and vegetables; also men of national reputation will be there. 1 Would also like specially to urge fruit growers who are deeply interested in pruning to make a spe cial effort to attend, as the college lias made several demonstrations in regard to pruning and the trees ale now in varying ages, and a prac tical lesson could be learned by seeing these tracts and having the different systems explained. If all those who wish to attend would notify someone at the Path ologist's office as soon as they de cide to go, we may be better able to make convenient arrangements. LITTLE THEATRE DISCUSSED BY LOCAL DRAMA LEAGUE A very ..practical and instructive talk on the Little Thcatro with spec ial opplicalion to conditions in Med rord'was given at the public library Saturday night by Dr. Bates of tlir- English department of the state uni versity at Ktigeno unjer the Aus pices of the Medt'or.'l "Oiama Lef.guc. , Dr. Bates said that his experience in Eugene had convinced him that a place the size of Medforil had suffic ient latent dramatic talent to present a play as well as the average road company, and he considored that edu cation and Intelligence wore even more necessary than stage exper ience. In tho selection of the play he said there were three principal points, first cost; second, adaptation to cast; and third, adaptation to the community. The matter of cost the speaker con sidered ot first Importance as this was on absolute limitation upon the presentation of any play. The matter of royalty lie considered a serious stumbling block as the present law makes it impossible to give an ama teur presentation without paying at r For a long evening SOMETIMES you want to smoke two or three cigars in succession. You can do it with the OWL. There's a mellowness about the OWL that doesn't "get" you the way a poorly -cured, badly made cigar would. Every OWL is mellow. That's why that second OWL tastes just as good as the first one. I mm M. A. GUNST & CO.
