BAND CONCERT PROVES BEST OF THE SEASON With an ideal evening and a splen didly arranged program, Tuesday evening's concert given by the Med ford band at the City park, was eas ily In advance of th proceeding en tertainments, which have on much popularity for our energetic band and bandmaster. The selec tions which were well chosen proved most popular with the large aud ience. Encores were quite the order of the evening. Suppe's overture to "La Burlesque" was. perhaps the masterpiece, of the program, and it is hoped that our band will give this great work equally as good a rendi tion next Sunday afternoon at Ash land. The always popular medley of operas as it was played on Tuesday evening, was undoubtedly the best effort of tlie band tills season, music of such class will bring tlio band the 'whole-hearted support of our music- loving citizens. Ned Frost, a guide, and Ed Jones, a cook, were brought here during the night suf fering from serious Injuries recoived in a battle with a large fonialo griz zly hear noar the Lake Hotel in Yellowstone National Park Monday night. According to tholr story Jones caught the bear raiding the commissary and attempted to frighten it away. . The animal was mauling Jones when Frost came to the rescue. Both were badly clawed before the animal was frightened away by ap proaching tourists. The Injured men were brought here on a two day's overland trip. Both will recover Bay physicians.
