I, rl A PAOTS BIX MFJ3FORD MATTi TRTBUNE, MEDFORT). OREGON, "MONDAY, FIWRUARY 2.l MM. m ,- m FRIT FIRM PLANNING TO ERECT E Tlio recently orgnnirnl fmit tlis triliuling fimi of Dennis. Kimball Pope nrc coiilcniitlntinj the building of n Inrffo pnekinpr houo nt Meil fonl, ninl General Mnunpcr Pope N on hin wny liere to tnnke finnl de cision conceinini; plnns, nt'cording to local mnniiRcr McKenny. The following concerning the new firm is reprinted from "the Krnit mniiV Oniile," New York City: "The new incorporation of Den nis, Kimball & l'ope, briefly alluded to in. the last week's Guide, stand for one of the most important and widespread systems of distribution that hns ever been- broupht before the attention of the American ship- per. None of the romirancnt parts of this new organization need nn introduction to phipiwre, either east or west. "The great house of William Hen nis & Sons, Ltd., hnst been for ninny, many years closely affiliatc with the development of the fruit export business to Kurope. There is no house better known as receiv ers and auctioneers in the British market than W. Dennis & Sons and their reputntion is in the truest sense of the world international. "C. 11. & C. V. Kimball is a firm whose name is n household word among apple shippers and apple re ceivers on this and the other bide of the wntcr. "G. XL Pope, the Bccretan anc maungcr of tlio new corporation, has spent n lifetime in the deciduous business, and for tho last three years been tbo New York agent of tho California Fruit Distributors, n position thnt in itself speaks vol umes for Mr. Pope's experience and ability, this probnbly being one of the most important nnd arduous po sitions of its kind within the gift of any organization in the country. "Dennis, Kimball & Popo are in a particularly strong position, and have facilities enabling them to put before the western shippers nn or ganization thnt can help their inter ests in unsurpassed fashion, not only in this country, but in all the principal foreign markets. Needless to say, the connections of V Den nis & Sons all over Europe, in South America, where the outlet for our fruit is developing to a grcnter ex tent year by year, and even in Cape Colony, where we are gradually op ening up new markets, ensure the best possible disposition for nil goods that nrc exported. "As for the domestic auctions or private sale markct, shippers in terests are safe in the hands of n concern, the partners in which at this cud of the line nrc men of such standing and ability as the Messrs. Kimball and Mr. Pope. "George D. Bills", Jr., who had chnrgo of the Pioneer Fruit Co.'s in terests in Chicngo, will prove a strong adjunct in Chicngo us man ager in that territory, while K. M. McKenny, who is manager nt Mcd ford, Or., is ono of the best known and most popular fruit men in the northwest. It would bo difficult to conceive of n stronger lineup, not only in the wny of financial solidity, but in :hr way of actual hard-working experi ence and nbility." PORTLAND, Feb. 2a. Hogs were the real sensation of tho period, ns. they opened, up on Mouduy nt $8.05 und got to $8.75 by Wednesday, in tho face of u deluge. Tho bulge was not a bpasm, either, us it maintained n firm front right up to tho close of the week.
