The principal witness for the state was a woman detective, who by blandishments and appointments said sho secured damaging statements from tho defendant regarding his relations with liU sistor. Story of Tragedy Tho body of George Dedaskalous, a Greok. who bad resided hero tor six years, was found under u wnre houso along tho Southern Pacific tracks Monday afternoon, September 23, 1912. The Saturday previously ho had drawn out his savings from local banks, amounting to several hundred dollars, and Intended to start for his natlvo land tho day his remains woro discovered, through tho antics of a dog. Dedaskalous had been decoyed to tho scene Sunday evening, his skull fractured by blows from a loadod gai pipe, his jugular vein severed by a knife, his clothes torn from his body so that his money bolt could be re moved. Tho victim had been killed, tho body stripped of valuables and then dragged undor the ware house. Evidence Circumstantial Shirts stained with blood, tho bloody loaded gas pipe, the knife used, wore found in tho respective lodgings of Spanos and Seymour, who had been last Been with DednskaloiiB and were from tho first suspected. Completo circumstanclal evidence was secured, followed by confessions by each of tho accused men in which tho other was accused ot tho crime, each admitting having participated in tho murder. These signed con fessions wero repudiated at the trial. According to tho confessions mado, details of which wero aftorwards verified by tho police, several hours wero spent in enticing Dedaskalous Into a secluded place. Ho was In duced to como by tho promise of meeting a woman. While ostensibly waiting for her, Seymour secured a water melon. As Dedaskalous was eating a allco, ho was struck over the head from behind by Seymour and knocked Insensible. Spanos then re peatedly clubbed tho insensible man and cut his throat to mako sure of death. Who Murderers Wero Spanos was a Greek aged about 22, who married a woman twlco his ago, secured hor money, and squandered it. He was accused ot practicing whito slavery among tho Greeks but escaped conviction. Seymour was n half-brood Mexican and a sexual per vert. Both woro suspected of tho murdor of Nathan Rogoway, a hide buyor of Albany, who mysteriously disappeared during tho winter of 1911-12 and whoso remains wero found near Ashland the following spring.
