f T -iHf MEDFOttD MATL TMIUTN GRANT'S PASS 1. 14-0 HUMBLED Ig.ailODVQllD, 'oku in wnnv&iAOM 'AVcmMnHiii 'KonsiHo & ) With tho fastest game over plny- cd on the local Hold, tho Medford High School footbnll team defeated Grants Pubs High School by a ecoro or 14 to 0. Tho Ornnts Pass team started strong for a very few downs, but tho homo boys soon held them for downs nnd started n steady walk dovwi the field intll Captain Scogplns bucked tho bnll over for a touchdown. Cha rters kicked the goal; scoro, 6 to 0. The hoys kept up the agKresalvo work nnd time was called with tho ball 'well down in Grants Pass ter ritory. The second quarter Grants Pass rallied for n few moments, but wore unable to meet tho fancy plays of thho homo boys and soon thy ball was again within striking distance and Quarterback Under made n beautiful dropklck from the 25-yard line, adding three more to tho scoro. The third quarter was a sceno of typlcnl modern footbnll nnd tho bnll swayed bnck nnd forth in Grants Pnss territory most of tho time. Tho fourth quarter the fasst play continued nnd the Mcdford boys worked the forward pass for 15 and 20 yards at a time, almost getting tiwny several times, until Captain Scoggin rounded the right end 20 yards for another touchdown, leav ing the score 14 to 0. During this halt Grants Pass resorted to a punt ing game. To pralso any one would be un just, for they all played a t good gnme, but pome of the spectacular features were tho wonderful hand ling of passes by Poveridgo and Bos well; Durgess returning punts for big gains; Woro distinguished himself at defense and passed tho ball like a veteran; Chllders aver aged about '45 yards with his punts. In nil, the boys played a very good game and showed remarkable im provement in the last few weeks, both in team work and speed. Great credit is due Coach S, B. Hall tor his efficient work in de veloping n fast and snappy stylo of play, which is proving a puzzle to tho opposing teams and promises to bring Medford High school the championship. The officials were Sol Metzger, former coach of University of Penn sylvania and Oregon Agricultural college, referee; Blackington. for merly of O. A. C, umpire, and a gentleman recently from the Uni versity of Minnesota, field judge; Whiting of Washington university, head lineman. ft "& - 9c Remnant Sale Monday Morning At NINE A.
