A short timo ago tho Mail Tribune was the Tribune, n capital evening paper, published by Gcorgo Putnam, whoso fine joumnl istio instincts did much to help Mr. Jackson mako his Journal a success; the Mail was Medford's morning paper a pretty good paper, loo, for an interior town. Mr. Putnam bolioved tho Tribune and Mail would bo better con solidated; his proposal of purchase was accepted by the proprietors of tho Mail, nnd ho is ownor nnd editor of tho combined papers and plants. Tho Tribune has done much good work for Medford nnd Jackson county; in building up his district, Mr. Putnam is not only enthusiastic himself, but is tho causa of enthusi asm in others.
