Mrs. Nancy Vansicklo. wife of John Vansicklo, died June 11 at Macon City, Mo., after a-lingering illness. Tne deceased was well and favorable known here, the family having made their residence in Mfidford until last Easter, when they left for Missouri with the hope of banefiting hor health. Our sympathy is extended to thosa loft to mourn her loss. Capt. O. C. Applcgate passed through on Monday morning's train on his way home to Klamath county, from fils trip to Minneapolis as a delegate to tho re publican national convention. The Combination Industry. Rumors were rifo on our streets this week relative to tho completion of tho ice factory und brewery, and several bad it that artificial ice would b; plenty about Saturday. This was get ting interesting, and a Mail reporter hied himself to tho basa of operations to get at the bottom of tho business. The reporter found all bands busy as b3cs setting up machinery and putting the finishing touches to the woodwork, etc. We had plcnsunt conversations with two oj the firm, Messrs McCarty and Johnson, who kindly showed us around tho entire factory, aud explained the differed different details and workings of how to mako ice and bocr. Tho factory will not bo complete for some weeks, but it is expected that ice will bo ready for sale in about two weeks, not before. This plant in every respect is first clnss, in fact the ma chinery and building are not duplicated auywhoro in this part of tho country. The combination compressor and en gine is from the Johnson patont, and is of fifty horse power. Tho capacity of tho factory is about five tons of ice per day and twelve barrels of beer. Tho walls of tho building and the different rooms, such as the storing, cooling, etc., are twelve inches in thickness, with two air chambers, giving a per fect circulation throughout. When everything is completed wo will give a detailed account of all that goes to make up this great industry. Suffice, it to say now, that tho importauco of this plant in our midst is not half appreci ated by our citizens, but wo hope it will ba when tho output begins. ." Deserving; Praise. Articles incorporating the Medford Mining Company were filed with the secretary of suite Saturday by Fred Barnaburg, G. B. Addington, George Merriman and I. L. Hamilton, capital stock, $1003; principal place of business, lcuiuru. Tho above telegram was clipped from a daily paper, and in running down tho particulars we learn that tho Medford Mining Company is composed of eight Medford citizens, as follows: Geo. F. Merriman, president; I. L. Hamilton, secretary; Pote Barueburg. treasurer; W. P. H. Legate, manager; Fred Barneburg, John Barncburg, Geo. W. Addington and C. W. Palm. The capital stock is as above stated, $200 each. The mines are situated on Klamath river, about nine miles from Hornbrook, Cal., and are derrick placer. Mai. ager Legato is personally overseeing operations at the mines. Twelve men are employed at present. Active op erations have just begun, so we can net give figures on a clean up, but we are informtd that the prospects are of the best. All the machinery and apparatus for operating was built In Medford by Merriman & Legate, asd is well constructed and complete. The membars think they have some thing rich in sight, especially as a placer mine a short distance from their property yielded about $5,000 in a week's run. Of course they acknowl edge that this is not to be expected in their case, but are looking forward to more than paying expanses al least.
