The Combination Industry.
Rumors were rifo on our streets this
week relative to tho completion of tho
ice factory und brewery, and several
bad it that artificial ice would b;
plenty about Saturday. This was get
ting interesting, and a Mail reporter
hied himself to tho basa of operations
to get at the bottom of tho business.
The reporter found all bands busy as
b3cs setting up machinery and putting
the finishing touches to the woodwork,
etc.
We had plcnsunt conversations with
two oj the firm, Messrs McCarty and
Johnson, who kindly showed us around
tho entire factory, aud explained the
differed different details and workings
of how to mako ice and bocr.
Tho factory will not bo complete for
some weeks, but it is expected that ice
will bo ready for sale in about two
weeks, not before. This plant in every
respect is first clnss, in fact the ma
chinery and building are not duplicated
auywhoro in this part of tho country.
The combination compressor and en
gine is from the Johnson patont, and is
of fifty horse power. Tho capacity of
tho factory is about five tons of ice per
day and twelve barrels of beer. Tho
walls of tho building and the different
rooms, such as the storing, cooling,
etc., are twelve inches in thickness,
with two air chambers, giving a per
fect circulation throughout. When
everything is completed wo will give a
detailed account of all that goes to make
up this great industry. Suffice, it to
say now, that tho importauco of this
plant in our midst is not half appreci
ated by our citizens, but wo hope it
will ba when tho output begins.
." Deserving; Praise.
Wo desire to say to our citizens, that
for years wo havo bacn selling Dr.
King's New Discovery for consumption,
Dr. King's Now Life Pills. Bucklon's
Arnica Salve und Electric Bitters, and
huvo nover handled ramedies that sell
as well, or that have jrivon such uni
versal satisfaction. Wo do not hesitate
to guarantee them ovory time, and we
stand ready to refund tha purchase
price, if satisfactory results do not fol
low their uso. These remedies have
won their groat popularity purely on

Medford Minmg Company.
Articles incorporating the Medford
Mining Company were filed with the
secretary of suite Saturday by Fred
Barnaburg, G. B. Addington, George
Merriman and I. L. Hamilton, capital
stock, $1003; principal place of business,
lcuiuru.
Tho above telegram was clipped
from a daily paper, and in running
down tho particulars we learn that tho
Medford Mining Company is composed
of eight Medford citizens, as follows:
Geo. F. Merriman, president; I. L.
Hamilton, secretary; Pote Barueburg.
treasurer; W. P. H. Legate, manager;
Fred Barneburg, John Barncburg,
Geo. W. Addington and C. W. Palm.
The capital stock is as above stated,
$200 each.
The mines are situated on Klamath
river, about nine miles from Hornbrook,
Cal., and are derrick placer. Mai.
ager Legato is personally overseeing
operations at the mines. Twelve men
are employed at present. Active op
erations have just begun, so we can net
give figures on a clean up, but we are
informtd that the prospects are of the
best.
All the machinery and apparatus
for operating was built In Medford
by Merriman & Legate, asd is well
constructed and complete.
The membars think they have some
thing rich in sight, especially as a
placer mine a short distance from their
property yielded about $5,000 in a
week's run. Of course they acknowl
edge that this is not to be expected in
their case, but are looking forward to
more than paying expanses al least.
