The m agnitude of the undertaking is made ev id en t in the fa c t th a t th e U nited S ta te s reclam ation service w ithdrew thousands of acres from all form s o f en try , including the lake w hich is th e n atu ral reservoir, but a fte r finding th a t th e cost would be g re a te r than could be sp en t by the governm ent on any one p ro ject w ithin the s ta te a t th is tim e, the land was resto red to entry. A larg e corps o f men has been m ak ing surveys and e stim ates recently of th e cost o f co n stru ctin g such a p lant and it is now believed th a t the d a ta is in such form th a t th ere w ill be little delay in handling th e project. Ten million dollars sp en t on this w a te r w ill develop one of the best val leys in th e s ta te lying in one county and will pay the ca p ita lists larg e divi dends and m ake a reasonable ra te per acre for w a te r placed on the land; w a te r pow er for lig h tin g and m anu fa c tu rin g purposes will be developed, and as th e surveys pass through some o f th e finest tim b er lands in K lam ath and Lake counties and are close to the Oregon E astern and Oregon T runk surveys, th e u ltim a te use o f o th er m illions in m anufacturing. E. McCroBkey, of W ashington, and H. W. Cousins of San Francisco. The con sid eratio n is not given out. C lark & W ashburn paid over $40,000 fo r the tr a c t a y e a r ago and it is known th a t they made a good profit on the deal.
