President T a ft and His Family in Their W hite Steamer When the announcement was made When th eir labors w ere completed, several months ago that Mr. T a ft would the officials reported unanimously to use an automobile during his term as Mr. T a ft in fa v o r o f the W h ite, and, president, much riva lry developed accordingly, a car o f this make was im m ediately ordered from the manufac among the leading manufacturers fo r turers, The W h ite Company o f C leve the honor o f selling him a car and the land public watched w ith interest to see The new car was delivered to Mr. what Mr. T a f t ’i choice would be. The T a ft in W ashington a fe w days before knowing ones predicted that the W hite his inauguration and since that tim e it Steam er would be selected and they has been in almost constant use. There pointed out that President Roosevelt has not been a day when the president had used W h ite Steamers fo r two years or some members o f hia fam ily have a t his rummer home at O yster Bay and not been seen riding around the nation had recommended this make to Mr. al capital in the new car. I t is hinted T a f t as the most desirable. that Mr. T a ft likes fast tra velin g and Thia prediction proved correct, a l that when he riden out into the open though Mr. T a ft did not rely solely on country, he does not alw ays inaiat that Mr. R oosevelt’s recommendation but, the speed o f the car be kept within the w ith his uiual thoroughness, determ in legal lim its. ed to have an investigation made o f ail C. In other words, when w e make a car fo r the presidunt o f the United States there is no w ay in which we can make it any better than the car which you, or anybody else, can purchase from us. “ Some o f those w ritin g to me about Mr. T a f t ’s car say that although they are very desrious o f having a car iik« Mr. T a f t ’s, they are afraid that auch 0 car is somewhat larger and more ax- pensive than they desire. Judging by the demand for W hite cars, a good pro portion o f those d< airing to purchase automobiles are quite content to trust President T a ft's judgment as to the best and most desirabls make.”
