The parade formed be tween ten and eleven o'clock and marched to the grove vhere the days exercises were held. The flag drill, by 20 little girls, was a feature that was highly enjoyed by all. After din ner Hon. S. E. Notson, of Heppner, delivered an able address, that was entertaining and many expressed the beleif that It was one of the best ad dresses Mr. Notson had ever' delivered. The program ' consisting of songs, rec itation and music was completed about three o'clock when the sports were started. Miss Sylvia Booher took the prize of $2.50 in the lady's nail driving contest, driving 15 nails in one minute. The program as published was car ried out with the exception of the fat mans race and the bucking horse contest. Ernest Thornburg winning the sack race. Howard Lane the free for all men's foot race. In the mule race but four mules could be secured and the judges decided the race was not fairly won and made an even div ision of the prize among the riders or run the race over, Some of the riders refused to do either and the race was declared off. In the free for all runn ing race two of the Parker horses and a horse owned by James Allyn were entered. The Allyn horse, Spot, rid den by Joe White won first prize and the Parker horse second. Five were entered for' the pony race which was won by a horse entered and ridden by Harrison Flowers. The nail driving contest in the grove was such an en joyable event that It was decided to have another one In the evening In front of Leach Bro's store. Sixteen ladies took part in this contest and prizes were awarded as follows. Mrs. Thos. Lee, 16 nails, 1st prize $2.50; Mrs. N. S.
