An Arlington party informed us a few days ago, that the new wharf boat at that point had been named the . "Mud Hen" because it stuck in the mud when they attempted to launch it. N. P. Nelson has invented and patented an attachment for a plow that will turn under all wfeeds and stubble. He is making arrangements to place a few of them on the market for trial. The skating rink, managed by White and- Baldwin, opened last Monday afternoon and if you can't find parties that1 you want any place else, go there for them. It is the center of attrac tion these days. Mrs. E. D. Leach and Howard left yesterday for Salem where she expects to make her future home. Grandma Scott, her mother, who was enroute to her home at Seattle, accompanied them as far s Portland. E. M. Larkin and wife returned to Lexington Tuesday evening after a two weeks visit at Walla Walla and other points. Mr. and Mrs. Larkin will make Lexington their home for a time. Mr. Larkin, who is agent for the Best Manufacturing Co., expects to make this his headquarters. John H. Aitkin, of Huntington, has announced his candidacy for Republi can nominee for State ''Treasurer. The following Is the platform adopted by Mr. Aitkin.
