Every body seems to be en joying tne snow am cold weatner, as it gives them a chance to get out and enjoy themselves with their neighbors. The dances at Dave Brown's j. D. Moyers, and Mr. Van, Horns were en Joyed by all. The Black Horse Literary and Debating Society Is progressing In fine shape. Several out siders have taken an active part and are a great help In making the thing a success. The question for last Saturday night was, "Resolved" that intemperance causes more trouble than war. The negative winning. The question for next Satur day is, "Resolved" that fire Is more destructive than water. James Brown, Mr. A. M. Zink and A. Brown went to the mountains yes terday for some horses. Lewis Fridley and family of Social Ridge visited with Dave Brown's last Sunday. Several visitors have been in atten dance at school lately. We are gfed to have' them come ar.d would be pleased to have them come sgain 2nd to have others attend also. Those who visited school are: Miss Grace Palmer; Miss Mable Tyler; Mrs. Myrtle Reaney; Mr. Roy Tyler and Mr. Byron Tyler. The cold snowy weather somewhat decreased attendance last week. The following dates have been set for eight grade examinations: Feb. 1 2; May 17-18; June 14-15, and Sept. 27-28. Plans are under head way, for a grand time Arbor day. A part of the school ground will be planted with trees; and an Athletic exercise will be held. In the evening an entertainment will be given. Further particulars will be given later. Debating is receiving considerable attention by the pupils in the high school department. Their interest in the work is very gratifying. At present the pupils are doing some good practice work. They do not feel disposed to invite the public to attend, as they wish to do their work entirely by them selves but In the near future they hope to be able to give a public debate.
