Finley of lower Sand Hollow, transacted business In town Friday last A. Andrews made a trip out to his ranch Tuesday north of Lexington. He is seeding a considerable acreage of new land this fall. H. E. Burchell and wife of Lexing ton, visited in Heppner Monday. Mr. Burchell informed The Times that the farmers telephone line from Lexington to Sand Hollow had been completed and that they contemplated extending the line on up to Heppner in the near future. S. A. Barlow, who was in from Eight' Mile Saturday, reports having market ed his wheat crop, but had not yet done any seeding. He thinks the acreage seeded this fall in his section will be larger" than last year. A number of farmers are cutting down their large farms , several half section sales hav ing been made recently. Sheriff Shutt arrested Fred Creigh- ' ton down near Cecil Monday on a charge of burglary. It appears that Creighton had burglarized the resi dences of Marcellus Morgan and Ed Vare, which are located a short dis tance below Cecil, both families being absent at the time .of the burglary. At both places the front door was broken down. An overcoat and some provis ions were taken from the Morgan house and a razor, wire nippers and fountain pen taken from the Ware house. All the stolen goods were found an Creigh ton when arrested by the sheriff..' ' Ha was arraigned before Justice Whitefs and asked until Saturday to plead, and during the intermission he Is lodged in the county jail. Fred Fehrman. who has bean held the Morrow county jail the past fev weeks on a charge of wife beating. made his second escape from the iail Tuesday night by digging through the stone wall of the prison. Fred Crete- VP ton, who was lodged in jail Monday ev ening on a charge of burglary, also es caped. The first discovery of the break was made by Janitor Ayers at five o'clock yesterday morning. He at once in formed Sheriff Shutt, who organized a posse of deputies as quickly as possi ble and the search for the escapes commenced. v Extra precautions have been taken with Fehrman since his first break, and Deputy Hill is positive that he shoved the bars in place after he Dut the prisoners in the steel cage for the night, although it is probable . that he did not adjust the bolt in the locker. However, the sliding bar works hard' and no tools to work with it must have been a difficult job to have pushed it back, but it was done. The only tool found with which the prisoners dug their way out was a case knife. About the usual number of pranks were played the (?) "goblins" Hallow e'en. We heard one of them remark yesterday that he lost a watch while out with the gang, but that fact, need not worry him as we can see no good reason vhy a goblin" should need a. timepiece.
