There’s still time to join the fun this weekend as the club hosts its 22nd annu- al Cool Rides Car Show. The fun revs up Friday at 6 p.m. at McKenzie Park, 320 S. First St., Hermiston. For $5, everyone can enter the poker run — regardless of the type of vehicle you drive. Participants will visit fi ve local businesses, in- cluding Hermiston Race- way Park. In addition to picking up a card for their poker hand, drivers can take a spin around the oval track. Afterwards, awards will be given and a potluck dinner (the club is providing chick- en) will be available. Registration for the car show is Saturday from 7-11 a.m., also at the park. Ad- vance vehicle registration is $20. Day of car show entries are $25 each. Dash plaques and T-shirts will be given to the fi rst 150 reg- istrants. There is no fee for spectators. Vendors, live music and food will be available at the park. The regular club meet- ings are the fi rst Friday of each month at 7 p.m. at Desert Lanes, 1545 N. First St., Hermiston. During the summer months, club members gather each Fri- day night at Les Schwab Tire Center, 830 N. First St., Hermiston. People are invited to hang out, meet other car enthusiasts and learn more about the club. Seamstresses sew up raffl e quilt HERMISTON HERALD The collective talents of nearly a dozen area women have resulted in a creative quilt that will be raffl ed off as part of the annual Boardman Quilt Show. The group project, which features a unique double-sided quilting de- sign created by Carlie Schriever of Irrigon, be- gan in the fall of 2016. The quilt front is a collection of holiday cranberry red and forest green fabrics on a white background; and the backing is cranberry red, embellished with a green tree and golden star. Individuals who helped assemble the blocks and put the top together in- clude Nancy Pace of Plym- outh, Washington, Sandy Moroney of Umatilla, and Marie Cornell, Lila Kill- ingbeck, Glenda Bozarth, Carol Michael, Cheryl Tallman, Kathy Morgan, Kathy Hyder and Mildred Baker, all of Boardman. Tickets are now on sale, with the winner drawn Oct. 14 during the Boardman Quilt Show. The Boardman Quilt Group invites interested quilters to join them Mon- days from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Boardman Senior Center, 100 Tatone St. There is no fee to partic- ipate. Participants should bring their own sewing machine and lunch. In addition to work- ing on individual proj- ects, there are occasional presentations by regional quilt artists, fi eld trips and quilting retreats. Tickets for the raffl e quilt are $1 each or a half yard (18) tickets for $5. To make arrangements to buy tickets, call 541-571-7009. Also, people can buy tick- ets during the Oct. 7 Sage Center Harvest Festival in Boardman, and during the Oct. 13-14 quilt show at the Boardman Senior Center. Money raised from the raffl e is used to pay for rental at the senior center, to bring guest instructors to meetings and to deliver or ship quilts for commu- nity service projects.
