Ott and East Punkin Center roads, Hermiston. 11:08 a.m. - Hermiston police responded to a home on Southwest 11th Street after a caller reported a male wearing black gloves and a black hood tried to open her front door. Police found no suspect. 1:25 p.m. - A caller told Hermiston police someone stole the battery out of her car on Northwest 13th Street, and the day before someone stole fuel from the car. 2:31 p.m. - A Umatilla resident on Columbia Boulevard asked for police help to deal with the people stealing from her apartment. So far, they took a light bulb, three ice chests, two barbecue grills and laundry. 8:18 p.m. - A caller on East Beech Avenue, Hermiston, reported a man stole more than $1,000 cash from her. She knew his first name, she said, but not his last or where he lives. 9:12 p.m. - The driver of a white sedan spun cookies near La Palma Restaurant, 231 E. Hurlburt Ave., Hermiston, until the car became high centered. 9:19 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a truck driver punch- ing a man on Interstate 84 near Hermiston. 10:14 p.m. - A Hermiston woman reported her ex-husband keeps harassing her with calls and texts, but she has no protec- tion order against him. TUESDAY 7:41 a.m. - A Hermiston mother at Viewcrest Apart- ments, 525 S.W. 13th Place, told police the neighbor below her stopped her son, yelled at him and threatened him from her window. 8:08 a.m. - A caller reported the theft of a flatbed trailer from the construction site near Vadata, 3200 Beach Access Road, Umatilla. 10:21 a.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a cougar be- hind Safeway at the Hermiston Plaza Shopping Center at East Highland Avenue and Highway 395. The event, Zepeda said, was all about spreading Christmas joy. Seaton liked the arrange- ment, which encouraged families to interact. “I like having our own tables,” Karen Seaton said. “Then, you can also get up and mingle with other people.” The Seatons’ 6-year-old daughter, McKenna, was happy spending time with some of her West Park Ele- mentary School classmates. “Because school has been out, they’ve been needing their friend fix,” Karen said. McKenna, along with Athena Huffman-Martin and Harmony Blake, both 6, were busy creating crafts. The trio showed off their gingerbread men and rein- deer ornaments. Besides making ornaments and col- oring holiday-themed pic- tures, the girls agreed they missed visiting with each other since snowy weather resulted in school closures. “My favorite part is be- ing with my friends,” Har- mony said. Santa Claus posed for photos and listened as ea- ger youngsters shared their Christmas wish lists. In ad- dition, some kids had some important business to attend to — including the pressing question of the day. “He wanted to know if he was on the naughty list,” Tiffany Rettkowski said about her younger son, Jus- tin. The 5-year-old is hoping the jolly ol’ elf will deliver a drone during his Christmas Eve flight. She said there were footprints around the house and a broken screen in the back. 3:53 p.m. - Hermiston police responded to Sandstone Middle School, Hermiston, on a report of a juvenile with marijuana. 4:18 p.m. - A manager at the Umatilla Port of Entry, Umatilla, reported a former employee is poaching clients and fraudulent- ly claiming to work for the port. 8:17 p.m. - Law enforcement received a call about vehicles having to swerve around the “can man” in the right lane at South First Street and West Gettman Road, Hermiston. ARRESTS, CITATIONS MONDAY • Hermiston police arrested Diane Rochelle Berecz, 43, ad- dress not provided, for delivery of methamphetamine and driving while suspended, and on a felony probation violation. FRIDAY • Hermiston police ar- rested David Daniel Diaz, 19, of Hermiston, for domestic violence fourth-degree assault and strangulation, as well as on three misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear. WEDNESDAY • Dante Lamar Marshall, 30, of Snellville, Georgia, ended up in the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, for domestic violence assault. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office around 4:40 p.m. re- sponded to a home on Northeast 10th Street, Hermiston, after a woman there reported Marshall hit and bit her and destroyed her property. Deputies arrested Marshall and put him in jail for felony fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest. Marshall already has a domestic violence assault case pending following his Oct. 31 arrest. Court records show he skipped his Nov. 14 court hearing to face that charge. His victim was the same in both cases. • Boardman police arrested Cynthia Ann Brown, 28, of Board- man, for fourth-degree assault. • Boardman police arrested Tyler Maurice Messersmith, 31, no address provided, for third-de- gree and fourth-degree assault.
