During the robbery, a man walked into the Center Market, 530 1. Main St., Stan¿eld, and demanded cash, according to Bryon =umwalt, Stan¿eld Police Chief. Zumwalt said the cashier provided an unspeci¿ed amount money and the suspect left. The police chief said the man did not display a weapon. “He never tried to conceal his face,” Zumwalt said. “We are hoping we can get further infor- mation from the public to identi- fy that suspect.” The last store robbery in Stan¿eld was also at Center Market and also in the early morning, Zumwalt said. In that incident, the convenience store was robbed at gunpoint in early December. “Anything suspicious, call dispatch and we are more than happy to check it out — even if it’s nothing, especially at that time in the morning,” Zumwalt said. SATURDAY, FEB. 27 Hermiston Fire EMS calls — 11 Hermiston Fire motor vehicle accidents — 0 7:01 a.m. - The Clean Spot car wash on Switzler Avenue, Umatilla, was the site of a break-in. 10:08 a.m. - A man reported someone dumped a trailer with four-wheeler parts in it Sturgis Street, Hermiston. 11:47 a.m. - A woman reported a storage unit was broken into on Northwest Geer Road and items were missing. 5:23 p.m. - A male in a gray sweater stole a watch and cell phone chargers from Walmart and ran southbound on Highway 395. 6:56 p.m. — Fire call: Dispatched for a fire “Coming through the windows at Greg’s Sleep Center”. On arrival there was no fire at the loca- tion; however, the adjoining business (Delish Bistro 1725 N. 1st Suite-E) was serving food on their outdoor patio. They had several large gas patio heaters in use and the reflection was visible in the windows. All units canceled and returned to station. 8:16 p.m. - A Hermiston-area man told the Umatilla County Sherif’s Office he had contact on Facebook with a woman from New York who sent him an “exposed picture,” so he sent one of himself in return, and she then threatened to show his family unless he paid her money. 10:28 p.m. - An Echo caller report- ed a female “lost her mind and has assaulted both mother and father.” 10:32 p.m. - A Umatilla caller reported the theft of a red 2003 Ford Focus from Meharry Manor on Sixth Street. 10:50 p.m. - A driver on Highway 395 reported a potential drunk driver headed into town going 75 mph and swerving. 11:53 p.m. - Folks at a party got into a fight and handed of a baby to the person reporting. FRIDAY, FEB. 26 Hermiston Fire EMS calls — 09 Hermiston Fire motor vehicle accidents — 0 6:42 a.m. - Hermiston Fire responded to a brush fire in the area of Townsend Road and East Theater Road. 12:54 p.m. - Three dogs attacked a lone dog that belongs to a resident on Southeast 14th Street, Irrigon. And again a Morrow County sherif’s deputy talked to dog owners. 2:19 p.m. - A man living on Depot Lane, Irrigon, reported neighbors shot guns in his direction. A Morrow County sherif’s deputy told shooters not to fire toward the road. THURSDAY, FEB. 25 Hermiston Fire EMS calls — 11 Hermiston Fire motor vehicle accidents — 0 7:59 a.m. — A caller told Stanfield police that around midnight she saw a 200-pound cougar run across the road at North Main Street and East Harding Avenue. 8:44 a.m. — A caller reported people inside the burned-out house at 80625 Lorraine Ave., Hermiston. The yellow caution tape is still on the property, the caller said, from when the house caught fire the night of Feb. 6. The caller also said a male was there now and burning some material. 9:07 a.m. — A Umatilla resident reported she was online and discov- ered her identity was stolen through a scam. 10:01 a.m. — Twenty-five gallons of lubrication oil spilled at Union Pacific Railroad’s Hinkle Locomotive Service and Repair Facility near Herm- iston. An employee told the Umatilla County Sherif’s Office the company was contacting an environmental specialist to respond. 2:04 p.m. — A Umatilla woman told police someone dumped a dog by her home at Marina Apartments and it keeps jumping into her car. 3:21 p.m. — A Hermiston man reported he lost $2,000 in a scam to someone claiming to be his grandson who needed to get out of jail. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 24 Hermiston Fire EMS calls — 10 Hermiston Fire Motor Vehicle Accidents — 1 9 a.m. — The Umatilla County Sherif’s Office received another complaint about the homeless camp along Umatilla River Road near Interstate 82, Umatilla. A caller said the camp residents moved their tents and belongings closer to the road and was concerned about the camp growing and the possibility of water pollution. 9:55 a.m. — A Boardman woman reported a man was pounding on the outside of her trailer on Summit Lane and threatening to beat her. Morrow County sherif’s deputies advise the man to stay home. 10:09 a.m. — A Umatilla man reported an assault. He said a neighbor hit him it in the chest with both hands, but he did not need medical attention. 1:07 p.m. — Hermiston Fire responded to a prescribed fire in Hermiston. 3:05 p.m. — Hermiston Fire responded to a report of a fire but response was canceled in route, Hermiston. 6:06 p.m. — A caller on West Willow View Drive, Heppner, reported seeing something fall from the sky that looked like two “fire balls” south- west of Hermiston. Law enforcement was not able to find them. 6:37 a.m. — Another caller told the Umatilla County Sherif’s Office about the homeless camp at Umatilla River Road and Interstate 82, Umatilla. This caller said the campers have not come onto his property, but one tran- sient walked by with a double-bitted ax, which makes her uncomfortable. 7:48 p.m. — A Umatilla resident on Carolina Road told police the back door was open when she got home and it looks like someone tried to get in, though nothing seemed to be missing. 8:50 p.m. — A woman blared the horn in a car at One Stop Mart, 28810 Staford Hansell Road, Hermiston, and screamed and yelled at employees. A caller said she may have been angry about having to wait in line to get gas. 9:54 p.m. — Hermiston Fire responded to a natural vegetation fire in Hermiston. ARRESTS, CITATIONS Hermiston police arrested Rafael Casteneda Ceballos, 48, no address provided, for duii. •Hermiston police arrested Antonio Ordaz Venegas, 32, no address provided, for second-degree theft and two counts of first-degree possession of a forged instrument.
