On Octo- ber 30, 2015, Edward Clark Dickey passed away at the age of 97, at home with his beloved wife of 77 years Luetta by his side. Clark was born in Cave Creek, Ark., on September 12, 1918, to James and Viola Dickey. He was preceded in death by his par- Dickey ents, his brothers Or- pheus and Carl and his sister Fordean. He is survived by his loving wife; two sons, Jim (Judy) of Pendleton, Ore., and Tom (Mary- lu) of Kennewick , Wash.; six grandchil- dren, Mark, Sherry, Diane, Kathy, Kristi and Keri; ¿YH JUHDWJUDQGFKLOGUHQ Joshua, Taylor, Kyle, Mad- ison and Emily; a brother, James Jr., of Anderson, Mo.; sister-in-law Carol Dickey of Bouse, Ariz.; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Clark grew up and attend- ed school in Arkansas and Missouri. He married the love of his life, Luetta Mathis, on October 26, 1938. In 1944, at the age of 25, he was inducted into the United States Army, and served in the 79th Infan- try of the 7th Army during WWII. He served under both generals Patch and Patton as D ULÀHPDQ +H ZDV GHFRUDW- ed with both the European African theater ribbons with two bronze stars and a WWII Victory Medal. Clark was honored to have served his country. After his honorable dis- charge, Clark became a civil servant, retiring after 30 years with the Umatilla Ordnance Army Depot. Clark lived in the Hermiston area for the past 60 years. He was an avid reader of westerns and enjoyed garden- LQJ ¿VKLQJ KXQWLQJ traveling and winter- ing in Arizona. Clark lived a long and ful- ¿OOLQJOLIHDQGHQMR\HG spending time with his family, especial- ly his grandkids. He was very proud of all of his grandchildren and all of their accom- plishments. He was a man of great faith and was an active mem- ber of the West Side Church of Christ. He was very proud of his Western Cherokee heritage and will always be remem- bered for having a dachshund by his side. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the VA Home Care Team and Hos- pice volunteers who helped with Clark’s care. Their pres- ence helped brighten his days. SATURDAY, OCT. 31 • A caller reported a man who previously left a neighbor’s residence after a disturbance returned with a gun on West Ridgeway Avenue. • A manager at a business on West Harper Road reported an armed man was in the store requesting to speak to his parole officer. • Someone reportedly stole a purse and a phone from a vehicle parked on Northeast Fourth Street while the occupants were trick-or- treating. • A man was reportedly punching a woman on Geer Road. • Two dogs reportedly tore up the front of a vehicle on Powerline Road attempting to get cats hiding in the vehicle. • A man reportedly assaulted a woman on Walla Walla Street in Umatilla. • A caller reported a vehicle was tailgating him, and when he pulled over, the other driver tried to start a fight on Umatilla River Road in Umatilla.
