Lester Wilcox. Aviation Radioman, Sea- I man First Class, and Aviation Ca det Bill Penney. The former is a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Wilcox of Hermiston and the latter a son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. Penney of Stanfield. Lester, better known to his friends as "Spike”, recently was chosen for aviation pilot training, much to his pleasure. He was en joying his first visit home in 10 months. Bill’s training has taken him to Ft. Douglas, Utah; Amaril lo, Texas; La Jinta, Calif.; and still later again to Amarillo, Texas, where he is awaiting the call for pre-flight training. He has been in the service about nine months. OPA LEADERS VISIT HERMISTON that cooperation from everyone will make their loads somewhat lighter. In the pre liminary game Echo topped Helix 44-30 with the championship game ending 35-31 with Stanfield losing. The first game was close until the half with Helix showing the way 18-13 at the half. At the three quarter mark Echo had picked up until they were two points ahead and in the final quarter walked away. The final game started with a Stanfield spurt with the team lag ging at the half 22-14 only to forge ahead at the three-quarter 28-26. Anothei spurt by the winners brought them victory. The all-star team selected by a vote of all the coaches and refer ees wound up: Smith. Stanfield; J. Barbouletos, Umatilla: Gilham, Umatilla: Jordon, Echo; Esselstyn, Echo. The second string came out with two even votes for a seven man team: Brogotti, Helix: Ray mond. Helix; Correa, Echo; Brown of Stanfield; Sheard. Athena: B. Barbouletos.
