Here are some of the interest ing things about our paper: The editorial staff consists of Patty Markham, senior, editor; Loretta White, senior, editor-in- chief; Mrs Robert Smith, adviser; and the reporters, Clara Fraser, junior, David Rand, sophomore, Bob Brown, sophomore, Beth Rus sell. junior, Harriet Smith, fresh man, Shirley Miller, sophomore, Laurence Smith, junior. Alene Russell, sophomore, and Delores Schneider, freshman. The name of our paper is “The Comet". Some of the features fol-¡ low: the editorials, sports, honor roll, assemblies, talks, general gos sip. and the fashion column. These are just a few of the good points of our paper. The very first year I was here, they cut the price about 25 per cent from what it was when the company started busi ness in 1910. Now it’s only about one- fourth of what it was 35 years ago. Erling Helliesen, native of Norway, came to Yakima in 1911 and joined his brother, H. M. Helliesen, in the lumber business. In those days, a lumber dealer had to be a combination of architect, planner and furnisher of building supplies. All materials were hauled by team, and a farmer from the Naches or Cowiche area—15 or 20 miles away—would spend two days getting a load of lumber out to his place. Through the years this firm has supplied lum. ber and materials for general building in Yakima, Selah, Cowiche, Naches, Tietoa and rural areas throughout the upper valley to house the expanding population. With his nephew, Harold, son of the founder, Mr. Helliesen continues to operate the lumber company. Their outlook for peace.
