Smith from Wal lowa were business visitors in this vicinity Friday, Saturday and Sun day. L. N. Smith accompanied them home for an extended visit. The Ladies Aid met with Mrs. T. T. Slaughter Thursday. This was the first meeting since July. The next Ladies Aid meeting will be held at the church September 19. Ray Sparks spent the week end with his father, John Sparks. Laverne Lamoreaux was a Pendle ton visitor the last of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Harness, who have been visiting his brother, Rev. Harness and family, the past week, left for their home in Camas, Wn., Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harness from Camas, Wn., parents of Rev. Harness, ar rived here Sunday and left for dif ferent points in Idaho Monday. They were accompanied by Rev. and Mrs. Harness. Rev. and Mrs. E. Bedwell from Spray, Ore., are visiting his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Bedwell. Roger Godwin from Idaho is stay ing with his grandparents and at tending school here. He is a fifth grader. A good crowd is desired. Miss LaVerne Baker, who is teach ing at Vale the coming year, was home a few days this week as the Vale schools were closed because of infantile paralysis. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barlow and daughter Carma left Friday for Portland and other Willamette valley points where they visited relatives. Among others were Mrs. Barlow’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Mef- ford of Lebanon. Mrs. Mefford re cently suffered an injury to her shoulder from a fall and still is un able to use that arm. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Dobson of Camas, W’n., visited at the home of her brother, George Funkhauser. A reception was given in honor of the teachers at the school house F ri day evening. After a program con sisting of songs by the ladies trio, short talks by the teachers and an interesting contest refreshments were served in the cafeteria. A large crowd was in attendance.
