PER I A T I ON P The stage is set for the opening day of the first Umatilla County Fair in 25 years. The workers have been busy two months. It is assuredly no small job to plan, organize and prepare. This is all a necessa ry part. But there are other things. There must be a lot of exhibits, and there must be attendance and public interest in the three days of the show. A county fair is distinctly a county fair. It is not a Round Up, nor a rodeo, nor horse races, nor a regatta, nor ony other sort of celebration, except an exhibition of farm pro ducts and agricultural effort. It is a fall festival for farmers and farm communities, and to be a success must be supported by liberal contributions of pro ducts toward the competitive displays and a large attendance during the three days. The board of directors and members of commit tees are entitled to this appreciation. They have worked with energy and enthusiasm, without com pensation, and have laid all plans well.
