CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES 44 i RE Sin, Disease and Death R eal?” was the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, April 10. The Golden Text was, "The light of the moon shall be as the light of th e sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day th a t the Lord bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of th eir wound” (Isa. 3 0 :26). Among the citations which com prised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teach ing in their s y n a g o g u e s , and preaching the gospel of the king dom, and healing all m anner of sickness and all m anner of disease among the people” (M att. 4 :2 3 ). The Lesson-Sermon also includ ed the following passages from th e Christian S c ie n c e textbook, "Science and H ealth with Key to th e Scriptures” by Mary B aker Eddy: “Nothing is more d ish eart ening than to believe th a t th ere is a power opposite to God, or good, and th a t God endows this opposing power with strength to be used against Himself, against Life, health, harmony. "E very law of m atter or the body, supposed to govern man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God. Ignorant of our God- given rights, we subm it to u njust decrees, and the bias of education enforces this slavery. Be no more willing to suffer the illusion that you are sick or th a t some disease is developing in th e system, than you are to yield to a sinful tem p tation on the ground th a t sin has its necessities” (p. 380).
