On Ja n u a ry of th is year Oregon had 155,000 horses valued a t $13,- 125,000, and 8000 m ules valued a t $730,000. T he com bined value is five tim es as m uch as is invested in sw ine in Oregon and alm ost equal to the value of Oregon sheep. In th e co untry as a w hole th e ag g re gate value of horses and m ules is $1,562,081,000, w hich exceeds the am ount invested in any o th er class of livestock.
