The an swer is—The Dalles, next Tuesday. 12.00 It is quite plain that plans are 1.00 being made laid to subvert attention .50 on the Umatilla dam to a program too big for us to carry, and in the jumble, high powered communities will attempt to have lower dams built first. To arouse public senti and ment. however, politicians, army engineers yield, and with the strength of the argument for the Umatilla dam, we can yet win the decision. The only way to defeat us is for us to take a defeatist attitude or in other words, say, "Oh, hum!" and give up the ship. Joy Emerson and Lynn Shaver made a business trip to Goldendale, Wn„ over the week end. Carl Hammer is home this week from Heppner, due to an arm infec tion. Mrs. John Grey was taken to the Pendleton hospital Sunday where she underwent an operation Tues- day morning. Stanley Hodges of Goldendale, Wn„ has purchased 1 the Driscoll place in this district, and plans to move onto the farm in the spring, to go into the poultry business.
