Three Months
Last week we asked the question,
"Where do we go from here?’’ in
the Umatilla dam question. The an
swer is—The Dalles, next Tuesday.
12.00
It is quite plain that plans are
1.00 being made laid to subvert attention
.50
on the Umatilla dam to a program
too big for us to carry, and in the
jumble, high powered communities
will attempt to have lower dams
built first. To arouse public senti
and
ment. however, politicians,
army engineers yield, and with the
strength of the argument for the
Umatilla dam, we can yet win the
decision. The only way to defeat us
is for us to take a defeatist attitude
or in other words, say, "Oh, hum!"
and give up the ship.

Many other LONG DISTANCE RATE REDUCTIONS now in effect
The efforts of Captain Tillman to
achieve the greatest success through
the objects of the CCC administra
tion, in the Stanfield encampment,
should be supported by all the sur
rounding communities. The camp is
not only very valuable to us from
an economic point of view, but duty
to the officers and boys of the camp
requires that we cooperate in the
improvement of the morale, and the
education and citizenship of the
young men at the barracks.

Prolong the Spirit of Christmas
for Years With Aladdin Light
• "And a wonderful light shown round about," so
Scripture says of that first Christmas night. How ap
propriate, then, to put that truly "wonderful light"
of the Aladdin Lamp into your home this Christmas.
So white — so pure — approaching sunlight in its
effulgence. Modern, too —unsurpassed by electric
light for quality and steadiness.
Giving Aladdin Is
Good Taste!
The gift of Aladdin is the gift of
something recognized to be fine
and durable. You couldn't choose
anything more appropriate for
friends in the country who are
without modern light. Its use
... means economy. Runs 50 1. ur.
on a single gallon of kerosene
(coal-oil). Duras 94% air and
■ only 6% oil. Saves eyestrain,
